چکیده

489 Abstract: The presence and distribution of Griffonia Simplicifolia I-B4 (GSA I-B4) and Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP) were studied in the nodose ganglion (NG) (inferior ganglion of the vagus nerve), sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) and superior cervical ganglion (SCG) of the rat. GSA I-B4 labeling was found in all ganglia tested. Neither SPG nor SCG cell bodies stained with CGRP were undetectable. The pattern of the distribution of GSA I-B4 and CGRP labeled cells were quite similar in the nodose ganglion. They were found in the poles of the ganglion with some marginal labeling. Large numbers of GSA I-B4 and CGRP labeled cells were found and the number of labeled cells did not vary considerably between the two markers in this ganglion. GSA I-B4 labeled neurons of the SPG and SCG were fewer in numbers compared with NG.

Innervation of the rat pineal gland by nerve fibres originating in the sphenopalatine, otic and trigeminal ganglia. A retrograde in vivo neuronal tracing study.

The innervation of the rat pineal gland from the sphenopalatine, otic, superior cervical and trigeminal ganglia was investigated in animals by use of in vivo retrograde tracings. A solution of 2% Fluorogold was iontophoretically injected into the superficial pineal gland in a series of Wistar rats. After a survival time of 4-10 days, the animals were fixed by perfusion and the brains, sphenopal...

Retrograde tracing of nerve fibers to the rat middle cerebral artery with true blue: colocalization with different peptides.

The origin of nerve fibers to the rat middle cerebral artery was studied by retrograde tracing with the fluorescent tracer True Blue (TB) in combination with immunocytochemistry to known perivascular peptides. Application of TB to the middle cerebral artery labeled nerve cell bodies in the ipsilateral superior cervical ganglion, the otic ganglion, the sphenopalatine ganglion, the trigeminal gan...

Heterogeneity of nicotinic cholinergic receptors in rat superior cervical and nodose Ganglia.

Nicotinic cholinergic receptors (nAChRs) are present in ganglia in the peripheral nervous system. In autonomic ganglia, they are responsible for fast synaptic transmission, whereas in the sensory ganglia and sensory neurons, they may be involved in modulation of neurotransmission. The present study measured nAChRs in several rat autonomic ganglia: the superior cervical ganglia (SCG), sensory no...

Localization of ATP-gated P2X receptor immunoreactivity in rat sensory and sympathetic ganglia.

The distribution of P2X1, P2X2, P2X3, P2X4, P2X5 and P2X6 receptors, a family of ATP-gated cation channels, in rat trigeminal, dorsal root, nodose, superior cervical, and coeliac ganglia was studied immunohistochemically. It was found that polyclonal antibodies for the six P2X receptor subtypes could label over 90% of neurones in these ganglia to different intensities. There was also considerab...

Stereological Study on the Neurons of Superior Cervical Sympathetic Ganglion in Diabetic Rats

Background: Most research on autonomic dysfunction of diabetes mellitus is conducted on ganglions innervating gastrointestinal (GI) tract and there are limited works focusing on cervical sympathetic ganglia. The effects of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the neurons of superior cervical sympathetic ganglion (SCSG) are investigated by stereological methods. Material and Methods: Female rats (n=72) ran...
